Inspired by the NY Times article “36 Questions that lead to love” our goal was to create a product that would enhance our own dating lives, help other people find love, and create a culture around being open & real in romantic relationships. cute date
How to play Swoon
- First Date?
Before you leave your place, pull out the deck and randomly select three cards. Bring those questions up in conversation, even if you’re too nervous to bust out the full deck night one.
- A few dates in?
Pick out five of your favourite cards, bring them on your next date and ask your love interest if they’re down to play a game.
- Fully committed?
Plan a date night and bring the cards with. Pick one each to start the night off by opening up.
- Hosting a Dinner party?
Put a card on each person’s place setting to break the ice and help your guests to get to know each other beyond the standard small talk.

Part science & part personal experience. We were inspired by Dr. Arthur Aron’s research, focusing on creating interpersonal closeness. We then designed Swoon to apply these principles to modern dating. Finally, we tested these cards on real dates and picked the most impactful questions.
